Cookies for your Valentine

If I were asked to complete a dessert questionnaire of my top choices for a sweet tooth fix, without a doubt a chocolate chip or chocolate chunk cookie would be on the list. These decadent double chocolate cookies, absolutely top of the list!! If your Valentine is also a chocolate lover than gifting these cookies are a sure thing.

We all have such busy days it may seem impossible to take time out to make cookies from scratch. The thought of hitting up your local bakery to treat your sweetie may seem like a no-brainer. But I think there's something therapeutic in pulling out the KitchenAid and hearing it whirl around while you combine butter and sugar. Let the outside world disappear for an hour. You can return to all of that later, but right now we're making these super delicious double chocolate cookies.

A lot of these ingredients are probably already in your pantry. Using room temperature butter, I always have a couple sticks of butter sitting around on my countertop, add the butter and sugars to the mixing bowl. While this is mixing together make the flour mixture in a separate bowl and set aside. The butter and sugar mixture should be well combined after 3-5 minutes. Add the room temperature eggs, one at a time. Next slowly add your flour mixture and beat together only until the mixture is just combined. Stir in the chocolate chips and refrigerate the dough for 20-30 minutes before baking.

In today's over scheduled world making homemade treats show that extra effort that you care. I'm pretty sure that your Valentine will double up on these cookies and say a big thank you for making them feel extra special.

Enjoy!
