Blueberry-Coconut No-Churn Ice Cream & Beach House Inspiration

Is there any better way to relax and recharge than spending time at the beach? Pure natural therapy if you ask me. The sand and salt water lightly perfume the air, and shades of blue continue for miles as the water meets the sky. It's easy to get swept up in nature's beauty and forget all the rest.

My love of the beach surely goes back to childhood as I have wonderful memories of summers spent playing in the sand and being in either the ocean or a nearby pool. To be fully immersed in the beach brings such peace. Last summer CNTraveler published an article exactly to this point. Being near the water truly does bring happiness. It's in our DNA to crave the water and its restorative power.

Moving from the beachfront to the beach house, from my small sample library I felt inspired to pull together various interior design schemes that reflect the colors and textures of the beach. Here is a double issue of my curated design inspiration.

The List

Accenting some textural neutrals for upholstery and wallcoverings I pulled together various textiles to play up either a sunrise/sunset color palette, botanicals, or the classic blue and white which I've punched up to feel more Mediterranean. These textiles were primarily sourced from the D&D Building (Decoration & Design) in NYC, but there are many resources available if you're not in the trade or working with an interior designer. Once you have your design scheme in mind, a few online resources I've found to be helpful are here, here, or here

Expanding on the textile selections above, I did a little shopping for you and put together a catalog of sorts of furnishings. These are all catalog pieces and can be found by clicking the links below. I like to mix textures and to stay in the style zone when scheming. But don't go overboard as the room can easily become kitschy with too many shell or driftwood pieces. Try to mix in pieces that will round out the room with warmth yet a slightly weathered beach-like feel.

a) Rounded Inlay Coffee Table - Anthropologie, b) Antwerp Cocktail Table - Jonathan Adler, c) Dandelion - Armadillo & Co, d) Tulum - Serena & Lily e) Round Cotton & Jute Rug - Serena & Lily f) Nora Natural Tufted Rug - CB2, g) Mia Pendant - Arteriors, h) Aptos Shell Chandelier - Serena & Lily, i) Evers Pendant - Arteriors, j) Celestial Nesting Tables - Anthropologie, k) Kismet Coastal Beach Mango Driftwood - Kathy Kuo Home, l) Pair of Napoli Pedestal Side Tables - Horchow, m) Double Shade Floor Lamp - Switch Modern

Whew, all that shopping has made me hungry! This homemade Blueberry-Coconut ice cream is the perfect reward for all your shopping and decision making that's involved in designing your home. It's a no-churn ice cream and couldn't be easier to make!! Simply roast the blueberries just until they pop and release their sweetness. Combine the roasted fruit with the various creamy ingredients and the freezer will take it from there. This is the perfect treat for a beach day!
